Judge Granger, a candidate for mayor, attempts to persuade Mary Allen Sayre to marry him. She meets his double, Jimmy Gallop, a young traveling salesman, and mistakes him for the judge. Gallop accepts her friendship and soon afterward discovers the reason for her cordiality. He is bribed by Granger's opponents to impersonate the judge in making a speech while they themselves kidnap the judge. This act almost wrecks the judge's chances of election and ends in Gallop's being nearly murdered. Gallop saves himself, helps out in the judge's campaign, and finds that Mary is in love with him. The judge transfers his affections to his devoted secretary.—AFI
