Allan Alvarez (John Lloyd-Cruz) occasionally takes the Pasig River ferry to go to his newly purchased home. On several of these trips, Allan always sees a girl who writes messages on stones and leaves them behind. He picks these stones up and realizes that messages being written are getting worse and worse as time goes by. One day, when the girl writes "Goodbye World", Allan panics and stops the girl from supposedly committing suicide - he soon discovers that this is not the case. He finds out that the girl, Mia Samonte (Bea Alonzo) works as a hotel receptionist in Malaysia. They have exceptional chemistry together, even finding themselves in love after just a week.—Anonymous
Alan gets enchanted by Mia, a very quirky girl with heavy hardships in life. She writes her feelings on smooth rocks which he picks up every time he sees one at the ferry. He gets concerned about Mia's feelings that take their turn to the worst. They live in two different worlds--Alan has a corporate job, a rich girlfriend, and an ancestral house he is renovating; Mia lives in a crowded home with a paralyzed father and the weight of the responsibility of being the breadwinner. Though Alan lives an almost perfect life, he has begun to feel unhappy about it. The pressure from work and his controlling perfectionist girlfriend is taking its toll; spending time with him proves light and enjoyable. They meet randomly when both of them got stuck in traffic. Alan takes the chance to get to know Mia when she asks him to accompany her Christmas shopping. Mia and Alan meet Mia's old friend Lolo Yuli, who predicts that they will end up together. Alan takes her to his ancestral home and they develop feelings for each other. Things get complicated when Mia overhears Alan's phone call with his girlfriend. Alan must pick between the two girls, but instead he picks neither. Mia flies back to Malaysia for work and meets a new love interest. Alan comes looking for her to make things right and win her over. They meet, but Mia is engaged with her current love interest. When Mia and her fiance take a flight to Paris, her fiance lets her go to Manila to Alan instead. Alan and Mia reconnect and end up together.—settesb
Miss You Like Crazy is a romantic drama that tells the story of two hearts that fate brings together, only to be tested by time, distance, and the complexities of life.
Allan Alvarez (played by John Lloyd Cruz) is a man stuck in the mundane routine of life. He's dissatisfied with his work, tired of his commitments, and yearning for something more. His world, however, takes a sharp turn when he meets Mia Samonte (played by Bea Alonzo) in the most unexpected way-while she's on a ferry crossing the Pasig River, holding a stone she leaves on a public bench with a message of hope. She is a free-spirited and unconventional woman, her vibrant energy a contrast to Allan's practicality.
Their paths cross repeatedly, as if the universe is drawing them together. Every encounter seems to spark a deeper connection between them, but there's one thing standing in their way: both of them are committed to other people. Allan is in a long-term relationship that has become more obligation than love, while Mia is struggling to make sense of a relationship weighed down by distance and uncertainties.
Through fleeting encounters across beautiful landscapes in Manila and even abroad, Allan and Mia are forced to confront their feelings for each other. Yet, they find themselves constantly bound by their own responsibilities and life circumstances. The tension grows as their chemistry becomes undeniable, but timing always seems to work against them.
When Mia moves to Malaysia for work, their connection is tested even further. Will they be able to sustain a love that feels so right but happens at the wrong time? As they struggle with missed opportunities, the burden of choices made, and the dream of a life together, the film reveals that sometimes, love is about waiting for the right moment, and that the people we miss the most are those who were never really gone from our hearts.
The movie, like its title, captures the essence of longing-missing someone so deeply that it echoes in every corner of your life. It's a story about love's endurance, the resilience of the human heart, and the hope that maybe, just maybe, the universe will conspire to bring two souls together once again when they're truly ready.
