During the events of Episode IV, Subject D takes a fishing break from all the trouble he has endured for the past couple of days. He then takes a turn into a dark oak forest, with sunlight barely reaching the surface. D spots a large cabin at the end of the cobblestone road, and makes the decision to enter.
Amazed by the size and the items inside, D decides to stay the night, figuring that the house was abandoned. It was not, as D quickly finds out. In fear, he hides, hoping to look around for just a little bit longer. He hears what sounds like footsteps and the sound of something being dragged, then the sounds of a door closing. He exits his hiding place, then he notices a metal door near the corner of the hall. He breaks it down and sees a giant dark corridor with only a single lantern on the ceiling. Next to him is another lantern, which he picks up and then he slowly makes his way into the darkness. 2 spherical orbs are displayed on podiums near the end of the room. The way the light hits the objects and the overall nature of such brings D to pick one up. He throws it, only to be violently flung to where the object landed. He grabs the other orb and finds the name. Ender Pearl.
He makes his way out of the corridor and opens the last set of doors. D sees a descending staircase, dark and cold, like the corridor he had just exited. D makes the impulsive decision to travel down the staircase, unaware that he is being watched by the inhabitant on the house, a witch. Dark blue eyes look down at Subject D as he descends into the darkness.
At the end of the staircase, he is greeted with a shiver down his spine and the dreadful feeling of death and entanglement. Cages and cages of creatures are hung from the ceiling, all with dead expressions and swords ready. D gets a closer look, and is violently rendered unconscious as the sound of a splash potion is heard. There is no heartbeat. Subject D is down.
There is no explanation for the visions D experiences. His own voice is heard, but also another. Distant screams become closer. A blurry figure cannot be made out. D awakens.
He discovers himself in a prison cell with only a composter and a faucet as his only companion. He is confident in his ability to escape, but finds his diamond pickaxe gone, as well as his grappling hook. It seems rather hopeless for Subject D, and he eventually gives in to the solitude. He lays motionless on the floor, awaiting his demise, and his subsequent respawning, however much agony that brings him. A creeper hiss is heard to the right, and D has an idea.
Subject D pulls the creeper towards him with his fishing rod and uses its explosion to escape the cell. The noise draws the attention of the witch and the chase begins. D climbs up a ladder and sees massive dark oak rooms with fake red tinted windows. The witch is close behind Subject D. A giant lava ravine is in front, and D uses the last ender pearl to cross over.
As D runs, he finds a set of doors and he promptly hides. Inside is something D was absolutely not expecting, a full replica of the portal D plans to build when he returns home, along with strange symbols and pictures on the chalk boards on the wall. Another door is seen inside, where D finds his beloved pickaxe, fully repaired as well. D makes the conclusion that he now has competition
D makes his final run towards the exit. He opens the door to find the witch waiting nearby. He starts running, finding an underground lava pool, seemingly artificial. He enters another dark corridor to find a door at the end. He opens it to see a looming red room, with glowing lines down the middle. They are hot to the touch as D treads on. A trapdoor lies in the middle of the wall, which D climbs through. On the other side, he sees an empty room with only a red torch in sight. The wall to the left looks suspicious to D, and he knocks on it. It sounds awfully hollow, so he punches through. He breaks down the fake wall and jumps through the front window, finally escaping the horror show.
As Subject D runs into the darkness, the witch barely misses him, and it watches with hate as he runs away. Suddenly, a tall dark creature teleports behind the witch, who seemingly can communicate with it. The witch nods its head, implying a command, without ever looking at the creature. It teleports away, leaving the witch alone. This is important.
Subject D continues to run, and stops to take a breather. He contemplates the events he has just witnesses, and makes the decision to continue his plan, now with competition. He runs off, back on track for home, when a loud sonic boom stops him in his tracks. D is confused. The credits roll.
