An anti-love story set in the shadows of Vancouver.
Miles, an Australian skateboarder, arrives in Vancouver, Canada to reunite with Lulu, a career-focused Jazz enthusiast. They visit an underground Jazz bar where their romance is resurrected once again. Reluctant to process his own father's recent funeral, Miles elects to numb himself with substances and skating. Lulu struggles to balance her career whilst dreaming of escaping the mundane familiarity of the dauntingly picturesque Hollywood North. Miles lands a job at a Caribbean bar and is initiated into the local skateboarding crew, spearheaded by old friend and wild child, Sid. As the summer burns bright so do Miles and Lulu, the jazz, the drugs, and alcohol slowly eroding the fabric of their relationship. The hedonistic skate culture pressures Lulu and her work life, and our lover's worlds begin to violently collide. Miles and Lulu escape the building tensions of the city seeking refuge in BC's temperate-rain-forest, but their romantic getaway ends all too soon. The city's elusive character taunts them back to seemingly inevitable destruction. At Sid's party, Lulu's plans to escape are exposed spiraling Miles and Lulu further apart. Feeling betrayed, Miles seeks refuge with the owner of the Jazz bar where he finally confronts his father's death. Heartbroken tempers flare up once again as the night ends in yet another intoxicated explosion. The once sacred Jazz bar swells with a feverish tension as the skaters now occupy the space. The night erupts in a sudden and tragic fentanyl overdone. Miles is forced out of the Jazz bar, revealing the grimy back alleys of the infamous Hastings street below. He disappears into the night, becoming another face upon the saddened street as the party rolls on.
