In the early 1960's, a group of people responsible for the construction of the Brasilia-Fortaleza road is abandoned in the middle of the jungle by the Brazilian government, after the military coup.
Far West of the State of Bahia, 1964:The old Geologist of a construction crew discovers an insurmountable desert that impedes the progress of the federal highway they are building to join Brasilia(the brand new capital) with Fortaleza(capital of the State of Ceará). The work stops. Accounts of the exploration of the desert and technical reports come and go to and from Brasilia. Out of nowhere, and out of season, a deluge falls from the sky, followed by a Military Coup that isolates our heroes from the world, but in great company: 16 visiting prostitutes. Together, in a merry and democratic confusion, construction workers and prostitutes organize a perfect society to survive. Years go by. Their favorite pastime aside from that one! is to watch the sky, plethoric of stars, planets, meteor showers and even UFOs, who seem to want some kind of communication with our characters marooned in this Utopian island in the middle of an ocean of cactus and stars.One day, 13 years later, a shooting star becomes a resplendent, blinding light, a whirlwind, a deafening rumble and descends upon our Utopia...
