Messy is a story about a drug dealer named Trell and his girlfriend Megan. Megan and Trell's relationship is very complicated and filled with deception and lies.
While in Atlanta, Trell gets shot by the police. Trell's second girlfriend Peaches encourages Trell to go back to Raleigh, North Carolina to let things cool down and to handle some illegal business for her.
Peaches sets up a meeting with her drug dealing friend Linda and tells Linda Trell will be in contact once he's back in town. However, Trell has other plans.
When going to meet Linda, Trell senses something isn't right about the meeting and decides to shoot and rob Linda. Later while in his hotel room, Trell learns that Linda is an FBI informant.
Linda being an FBI informant doesn't worry Trell though. Trell is more concerned about a corrupt cop named Gates. Trell owes Gates money and Trell fears what Gates might do to him.
However, that's not all of Trell's problems. Trell's best friend Sean has grown jealous of him and decides to get two goons (Tae and Mac) to rob Trell.
After Trell gets robbed, Trell get's a visit from his girl friend Megan. Megan asks Trell what is wrong and Trell explains the situation.
Trell then gets a phone call from Gates demanding his money. Trell tries to stall Gates but Gates threatens to harm Trell.
During Trell's visit in Raleigh, Trell also learns that his girl Megan has been sleeping with his brother Guy.
Megan has been seeing Guy for months, and now she has plans to blackmail Guy. Megan threatens to tell Guy's wife (Kayla) everything that's been going on. If Guy doesn't give Megan money to start her new business.
Guy panics and decides to get rid of Megan for good. Guy reaches out to Gates's friend Stacks to handle the situation for him.
While Guy is planning to harm Megan. Sean picks Trell up and tells him he knows where the guys are who rob Trell. Trell catches one of the goons (Tae) and shoots him. Trell then robs Tae and takes Tae's money.
Sean drives Trell to the airport where Trell catches a flight to Miami. Gates finds out Trell is in Miami and decides to go visit Trell to collect on his money.
