A family hires a babysitter who seems to possess magical powers.

The film takes place in the capital of England, London. At 17 Cherry Street, the Banks family is busy looking for a nanny for their children. They publish an ad in the newspaper. Soon a young nanny Mary Poppins appears on their doorstep and agrees to work for the most modest monetary reward. She has no recommendations, but mom has no one to choose from.
