Synopsis

A mother and daughter (Ava & Giya) survive alone in a hostile future world, after the commune they formally lived in was destroyed by a gang calling themselves the Mercy Men. Although they have found some hidden safety in their new shelter, violent storms and the lack of food makes their plight almost unbearable. Ava scouts into an old city for food, and uncovers a hidden technology that is being supplied to the Mercy Men. Although she tries to gain access to the communication device, she is unable to and leaves.When Ava returns from her scavenging mission she finds Giya's father Cade has returned home, having abandoned his family when the Mercy Men had attacked the commune. Although Ava is unwilling to allow him to stay, Giya convinces her that Cade can be of help to their survival. The family live together for a time, before another storms comes, and Cade uses the opportunity to lure Giya towards a new home in the North, where he believes there are better lands to live on. Ava searches for Giya and Cade, who unwittingly venture into the dangerous territory of Mercy Land.As they walk further into the North, Giya is captured by the Mercy Men, who kill Cade and take her to their leader The Master, who wants to use her as a new wife and father him many children.Ava is also captured by Mercy Men, but is saved when the group are attacked by a rival gang calling themselves the Nomi.Ava rushes to find her daughter before she is taken fully into the Master's control, but is unable to save Giya. She confronts the Master and kills him after learning how to deactivate his shield technology. Ava leaves the Mercy Men compound with the help of the 'mother', who kills herself and the remaining Mercy Men.Ava continues to venture north until she uncovers a hidden fortress that has secretly been supplying weapons to the surrounding area. She has no option but to head towards the dome.
