Linda Lawrence rises from secretary to account executive in an advertising agency. She falls in love with ex-football star Jimmy Hall and marries him. Radio man Harry Galleon will push her career further if she will just be "nice" to him and, when Jimmy gets jealous, she quits in favor of life as a suburban housewife. But her career still calls to her.—Ed Stephan <[email protected]>

Twenty-two year old Linda Lawrence works for Americo, a New York advertising agency. Her current job is as assistant to one of the executives, the elderly Mr. Bates. She is determined through hard work and advertising ingenuity to become a successful advertising executive. As such, she has no time for romance, especially in dealing with the advances of Jimmy Hall, whom she finds somewhat amusing when she thinks about it, which isn't often unless trying to stop him from pursuing her. Jimmy, in general, is more interested in getting the girl than he is in work. As Jimmy tries to get Linda, he not only has to battle the priority of her career but also others in Americo who are interested in her romantically, especially Harry Galleon, an executive heading the account on which she is working and, thus, someone who can help advance her career. Bea Harris, the only female executive at Americo, tries to help Linda both professionally and personally.—Huggo

Twenty-two year old Linda Lawrence, the secretary to executive Harvey Bates at Americo Corp., a Madison Avenue advertising agency, wants to become a salaried executive in the advertising world, as opposed to her current status as a wage earning employee, or a "Mrs." as are many in her position, such as her co-worker, best friend, and roommate, Nancy Grohl. Linda has as a role model Bea Harris, one of the most respected copywriters at Americo. Linda's goal, despite having a number of men interested in her, such as Americo account executive George Onslow, is the most persistent of those men, happy-go-lucky Jimmy Hall, who works in Americo's sales division. As Linda is able to break through to stand on the next notch of the corporate ladder in having Bates' ear, he who treats her like a trusted niece, Jimmy is concurrently able to break through her defenses for her to fall in love with him. But Linda and Jimmy will learn if they have the same goals for a future together, especially as another man enters the picture, Americo client executive Harry Galleon who can offer Linda the exciting professional and personal life she seems to want. Also affecting what happens is Galleon's ex-girlfriend Wanda Townsend, a dragon of a woman who still sees herself as the future Mrs. Galleon.—Huggo
