László Bene, an engineer, moves from the capital to the countryside to escape his broken marriage and work problems. Here, for the first time, he tries to live as an outsider, distancing himself from local problems. But he can only remain passive for a short time. The obsession of Director Kecskés, who is working on a solution to a serious water shortage, captivates him, and soon they are working together to find the best solution, defying the bureaucracy. A friendship soon develops between the two fanatics, who will do anything and sacrifice everything for a good cause, and Bene finally finds his lost love, in the form of Eti, a young pretty lady.
