All hell breaks loose when the Byrnes family meets the Focker family for the first time.
Having managed to enter the longed-for "circle of trust" after the events in Meet the Parents (2000), Greg Focker invites the straight-laced Byrnes family to meet mum and dad, the eccentric Fockers. However, as conservative Jack and Dina finally get to meet the uninhibited, cool parents Bernie and Roz, rivalries and secrets emerge, and someone learns a new word. But there's still something fishy about Greg. Will Jack resort to using his infallible contraptions to get to the bottom of Greg's suspicious behaviour?—Nick Riganas
Two families meet each other for the first time. It turns out that they do not get along at all as they try to get to know each other. Along the way, a common enemy threats both families. Both families have to work together to stop the enemy for good before it is too late.—RECB3
Having given permission to male nurse Greg Focker to marry his daughter, ex-CIA man Jack Byrnes and his wife travel to Miami to Greg's parents, who this time around are Mr. and Mrs. Focker, who are as different from them as can be. As asked in the first movie, what sort of people name their son Gaylord M. Focker?—Uber Minion
Gaylord "Greg" Focker (Ben Stiller) and his fiance Pam Byrnes (Teri Polo) decide to introduce their parents to each other.Greg is a male nurse and is subject to much ridicule on account of both his first name and the last name.
They first fly to Oyster Bay, Long Island, to pick up Pam's father, retired CIA operative Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro), her mother Dina (Blythe Danner) and one-year-old nephew Little Jack (Spencer Pickren and Bradley Pickren) (the son of Bob and Debbie Banks). Jack is training Little Jack in his own way and is very specific about treating him like an adult, and working on his IQ, so Little Jack can grow up to accomplish big things in his future. Jack is teaching Little Jack baby signing language as he cannot yet communicate verbally. Dina now has a safe word "Muskrat" which she uses to remind Jack, whenever he starts behaving like his old self.
Rather than going to the airport as planned, Jack decides to drive the family to Florida to meet the Fockers in his new RV. The RV itself has a Kevlar reinforced hull and Plexiglass windows, similar to Russian widow maker submarines.Pam assures Greg that he has nothing to worry about, as he has already won over Jack, which was the hardest part. Jack insists that he be introduced as a horticulturist to the Fockers. The road trip starts badly as Greg mistakenly drinks Debbie's breast milk meant for Little Jack. Jack hurts his back while picking up Little Jack and asks Greg to take up the night driving shift.
Once they arrive, they are greeted by Greg's eccentric but lovable father, Bernie (Dustin Hoffman) a lawyer-turned-stay-at-home-dad, and mother, Roz (Barbra Streisand), who is a sex therapist for elder couples. Worried that Jack may be put off by the Fockers' lifestyle, Greg convinces Roz to pretend that she is a yoga instructor for the weekend.Bernie says that he conceived Greg with only one testicle.
The house has only one functioning bathroom and there is water scarcity on the island. Jack is thrilled that he brought his RV, which has a fully functioning chemical toilet.Though Jack and Bernie get off to a good start, small cracks begin to form between Jack and the Fockers, due to their contrasting personalities. Things are made worse when a chase between the Fockers' dog, Moses, and the Byrnses' cat, Jinx, culminates with Jinx flushing Moses down the RV's toilet, forcing Bernie to destroy it to save Moses, and later on when Bernie accidentally injures Jack's back during a game of rugby.
Pam, meanwhile, informs Greg that she is pregnant, but the two decide to keep it a secret from Jack, who does not know they are having sex. Jack, however, becomes suspicious of Greg's character again when they are introduced to the Fockers' housekeeper, Isabel Villalobos (Alanna Ubach), who Bernie reveals Greg had a sexual affair with fifteen years before.
Jack later takes the RV to Isabel's fifteen-year-old son, Jorge (Ray Santiago), to fix the toilet, but is disturbed by Jorge's striking resemblance to Greg and begins to suspect he may be Greg's son with Isabel. Meanwhile, Roz, Bernie and Dina realize Pam is pregnant but promise not to tell Jack. Growing envious of Bernie and Roz's active sex life, Dina consults Roz on sex tips in order to seduce Jack, but none of them work.
Things eventually come to a crunch when Greg is left alone to babysit Little Jack, who Jack has been raising via the Ferber method. The Ferber method is a a popular sleep training technique that teaches babies to self-soothe and fall asleep independentlyDespite Jack's strict instructions to leave him to self-soothe, Greg is unable to stand listening to Little Jack's cries, and attempts to cheer him up by hugging him and acting humorously, but inadvertently teaches him the word "asshole".
When Greg answers a brief phone call from Roz, Little Jack is let out of the playpen by Jinx. He turns on the TV to Scarface and glues his hands to a bottle of rum, while saying "asshole" repeatedly. After a furious argument with the Fockers and his own family, Jack reverts to his old ways and sends Greg and Jorge's hair samples for a DNA test. At an engagement party, Jack introduces Greg to Jorge, and later when Greg refuses to admit Jorge is his son, Jack injects him with a truth serum to make him talk.
On stage, Greg blurts out that Pam is pregnant, and that Jorge is indeed his son (in a comically Darth Vader-like manner) before finally passing out.
The next morning, Pam questions Greg about Jorge, and he promises that he knew nothing about him before the previous evening. She believes him and is willing to work things out with him. Jack has reached his breaking point, and demands that Pam and Dina leave with him. Dina refuses and reveals that Jack drugged Greg.
When the others realize Jack's actions the next day, another argument ensues, and Dina admits that they all knew Pam was pregnant and deliberately didn't tell him.Shocked and hurt by this, Jack leaves with his grandson.
Bernie and Greg pursue Jack but are tasered and arrested by Officer Vern LeFlore (Tim Blake Nelson) for speeding and not remaining in Bernie's car when pulled over. Meanwhile, Jack receives the results of the DNA test; Jorge's father is really a baseball player who also resembles Greg. Jack turns back toward the house. When Jack sees Bernie and Greg being arrested, he attempts to defend them, but LeFlore tasers and arrests him as well.
Greg, Jack and Bernie are released from jail by Judge Ira (Shelley Berman), a client of Roz's. Before they leave, Greg asks Jack and Bernie to stop their feud. Jack admits he made a mistake regarding Jorge and explains his career in the CIA to Bernie before apologizing for his actions.
Greg and Pam are married that weekend by her former fiance Kevin (Owen Wilson), now an ordained interfaith minister. Jack reviews hidden camera footage to find each of the Fockers jeopardizing the Ferber method.
