This series is intended to help Christian children grow in The Lord. It is about a normal boy and his imaginary friend, McGee and how they use The Bible to make it through the pitfalls of growing up.

Television series about the interactions between a live-action boy and an animated friend. The setting is the small town of Eastfield, Indiana. The 11-year-old Nicholas Martin is a newcomer to town, as his family just moved in with his widowed grandmother. Nicholas is the son of a journalist and a secretary, but he is not interested in either career path. He is an aspiring artist and cartoonist. He created the character McGee to act as his confidant and sounding board, while Nicholas deals with the moral dilemmas and temptations of daily life. Nicholas' main foe was initially the bully Derrick Cryder, but they befriended each other when Derrick rescued Nicholas from a more violent foe.—Dimos I

The lead character in McGee and Me! is an 11 year old cartoonist Nicholas "Nick" Martin who draws a character named McGee who helps him through his struggles at home and school, with a little extra help from the Bible. (Nick sometimes puts McGee into Bible-based cartoons to help work through his dramatic problems). The series was shot in Hollywood and featured Joseph Dammann as Nick Martin, with guest stars like Orel Hershiser, Dick Van Patten, Carol Lawrence, Grant Goodeve, and Jerry Houser. The first McGee was launched in 1989. Although shot on film, McGee and Me! was the first made-for-video production to air on network television (ABC-TV), and was a winner of over twenty awards.—Rob Loos
