Little Tomas "Pipo" Pipo from Bratislava takes care of an Irish setter whom he names Silvo. He rides with him on his bicycle to see Uncle Sirak in the country. There he meets Marian Djurina, called Maros, and Katka from the children's home. After initial difficulties, Pipo and Maros become best friends. When the adoptive parents can't get along with Maros, Pipo's family takes him in.
