A disturbed young mother with some serious psychological problems begins to take them out on her infant daughter.
Mary Jane is brought to the ER for a broken arm. After examining the child, a streetwise Brooklyn born doctor suspects child abuse. The head of pediatrics tries to fire the doctor to keep her from perusing the matter. Why? It turns out that the mother's wealthy father happens to be a trustee of the hospital.
Rowena Harper breaks her daughtters arm and then rushes her to the ER. The investigation is haulted due to her rich father however.
It is only when Rowena leaves her Mary Jane unattended in a house that catches on fire is the child removed. She is placed back into her mother's care however and Rowena murders her.
