Having left behind, probably for good, her family, her island of Hydra, and Dimitris, the young fisherman who cares for her, the beautiful islander, Marina, embarks on a solitary journey to find a better future in Athens. But, in the faceless capital, Marina will soon end up working as a cabaret singer in a disreputable joint nestled somewhere in the city's seedy underbelly, as pride and fear mar her cherished memories of bygone times. Then, divine intervention sparks the return of the prodigal daughter; however, Marina's ignoble past, too, has come back to haunt her. Now, a pale ghost threatens Marina's new life.
