The life and tribulations of world renown ballerina Margot Fonteyn as told by herself, friends and fellow dancers
This film is a biographical look at the career of the acclaimed Margot Fonteyn (nee Peggy Hookam) and her personal life. Though it contains previously shown and widely distributed information (some of it published in her lifetime) it also contains material that is shown for the first time. Though she was one of the greatest dancers of all time the success of her career did not extend to her personal life. Though her marriage to Roberto 'Tito' Arias, Panamanian politician of dubious character, is hardly unknown; some disturbing aspects of it are revealed for the first time. Film clips of her outstanding performances and remembrances of her by various people in her life constitute the majority of the film. Watch for an very unexpected appearance by John Wayne in an interview done around 1970 provides a new light on her husband, a man "The Duke" had known when Arias was a college kid working for him!
