The film begins the same year Marcela marries Jiri. It then follows her for 26 year as she endures the failure of her marriage, and the hardships of raising a child with severe developmental problems. The sudden death of her daughter Ivanka in 2005 is a severe blow to Marcela's being, and she she begins struggling with suicidal thoughts.—Anonymous
