Sandhya's marriage is arranged with Dr. Sagar, whose parents do not want any dowry but prefer that their guests be looked after well. Before the marriage could take place, Sandhya's dad, Advocate Bhaskar, passes away, leaving the onus on her mother, Kaushalya, to shoulder the responsibility of looking after her as well as 2 other children. The family is devastated to find that the marriage has been canceled, as Sagar wants to get married to a well-off girl. Sandhya then gets married to a much older male, an advocate, with two children. She re-locates to live with them and finds herself being abused by her husband's aunt.
