She and her fiancé, a Polish actor, take the children to the zoo they long for to provide them with some semblance of normality. It turns out that the front is closer than they expected. The doctor goes to treat the wounded, but first, she forces the Pole to promise to take her patients safely abroad. However, dramatic circumstances leave the children completely alone in the fighting area. Amid the whistle of bullets and exploding rockets, we observe their dramatic fight for survival. "Doctor" - remains in her hospital despite the approaching front and takes care of wounded soldiers - regardless of which side they fought on. When a Russian soldier comes to her hospital and she realizes that he has raped several Ukrainian women, she begins to question the values that have guided her so far. "Teenager" - a group of Ukrainian women hides in a basement from enemy soldiers. When their hideout is exposed, the surviving teenager - despite the wounds and trauma she has experienced - tries to save herself and the only thing left of her family: her several-month-old sister. He tries to get behind the front line. Along the way, he meets blind children. "Grandma" - Two elderly people do not leave their house despite the approaching troops. These are "Doctor's" parents. They have nowhere to go. When an old man dies at the hands of invaders, his wife allows their house to be used by the local community as a makeshift mortuary. Taking care of the bodies of the fallen allows a woman to process her own loss and restore dignity to the victims. "Mother Russian" is a story about a desperate mother - a Russian - who goes to the front to find her missing son - a soldier. Seeing how the native army treats its own people, the woman - previously uncritical of the government's actions - begins to realize the senselessness and cruelty of the war.
