Rabid desires and ungovernable passions rule the lives of mortals, as impatient wishes and blind hopes interweave in this triptych of disastrous human flaws. In the shocking first segment, "The Nikouleli", a young wife burdened with insufferable loneliness is tempted to give in to lust. However, the glowing fire of a sinful liaison and a mother's unspoken dream will engulf beautiful sinners and ugly innocents alike. In the gloomy, "A Certain Vasilis", a hard-pressed butcher faces the perfect storm when his gravely ill wife summons up the courage to make a startling disclosure. Against the backdrop of chronic infidelity, the man must confront head-on a grave dilemma; nevertheless, has he the strength? Lastly, in the cheerfully melancholic final section, "A Sunday Rendez-Vous", a young couple of a handsome but poor receptionist and an equally impecunious but charming hairdresser decide to press their luck by seeking tempting but impossible alternatives. Can they have it all?—Nick Riganas
