Robert goes to Iran to find his father and meets Shirin, an Iranian teacher who teaches German. Robert soon realizes that his father is someone else in Iran.
If young Munich entrepreneur Robert Leitner has his way, his father Achim can safely stay where the saffron grows. And that is Iran. Robert's mother Irmi, who hasn't heard from her husband for three days, thinks he is there. She believes that the bankrupt mechanical engineer traveled to Persia to collect an old score. So for his mother's sake, Robert flies to Tehran. He is greeted there by the self-confident German teacher Shirin. She is the niece of carpet dealer Mehrnaz, to whom Achim sold a weaving machine more than 30 years ago, but it was never paid for. Robert soon comes across evidence that his father was in Iran much more often than the family knew. Achim has now returned home - and yet Robert is now determined to find out what his old man has been keeping secret for decades. It's just unfortunate that Mehrnaz has now traveled to the south of the country. "Have fun with your kidnapping" - said Shirin, to make it clear that it is not possible in the country without an escort. And so Robert and Shirin set off together - not without arguments - on the long journey to Mehrnaz. In order for everything to be in order in the strictly religious country, Robert first has to marry the young woman - of course only for a short period of time. A race begins when Achim ends up traveling to Iran. His mission: damage control across the board.—ADR Das Erste
