Two childhood friends reunite after a serious accident.
Emma has anxiously waited to reunite with her best friend Tracey who's been recovering after a serious accident. But Will, Tracey's brother, won't allow it as he blames her for the accident. When forced to work together to better their community, can Will and Emma learn to respect each other?
Emma and Tracey have been best friends since they were kids. After they were involved in a serious car accident, Tracey moved back to their hometown of Harmony Valley for physical therapy, while Emma started suffering from panic attacks. Several months later, Emma returns to Harmony Valley to see Tracey. Emma reunites with Tracey's brother Will, who had moved back home to take care of his injured sister. At first, he blames Emma for the accident and is cold toward her. Will, an entrepreneur, is also working on a business proposal that would modernize the town, open a winery, and create employment. Emma and Will bond over their shared goal of improving the community. As they work together to convince the city council, the two grow close again. However, Emma's trauma and some other setbacks could bring their budding relationship to a halt.—Patrick Lin
Two young girls named Emma Willoughby and Tracey Jackson play outside with Tracey's brother Will. Tracey says that Emma likes Will and teases her for it.
As an adult years later, Emma drives back to her hometown of Harmony Valley. She arrives at her grandmother Rose's house. Rose tries to dance with Emma, but Emma declines. Emma expresses concern about finally seeing her best friend Tracey again. Both of them had been involved in a serious car accident three months prior.
Tracey is staying at a rehabilitation center. She has limited mobility from her injuries and is doing physical therapy to recover. Emma goes to the center to visit Tracey, but only family members are allowed inside. After waiting a while, Emma sees Will. Will gets mad, saying that Emma should have been there for Tracey after the accident. Emma goes back to her car and has a panic attack.
Later, Emma returns to the center. She sneaks in without permission, and Tracey is happy to see her. Although Emma was the driver when they got into the accident, Tracey doesn't blame her and is relatively upbeat about her situation. Emma and Will see each other again. Will, a tech entrepreneur, had moved back to Harmony Valley from San Francisco to take care of his sister. He is still angry at Emma and brushes her off when she tries to talk to him.
Will and Tracey talk about what he's been doing recently. Will and his friend Flynn have been working on a business plan that would bring a winery back to Harmony Valley. They're going to take the proposal to the city council.
Knowing that Rose is an influential member of the council, Will goes to talk to her about his plan. However, Rose is not happy that Will is treating Emma poorly. Will talks to Flynn, and Flynn says that Will should forgive Emma. Will agrees to change his behavior.
Will allows Emma to take Tracey out of the center to visit the vineyard. The three, along with Flynn, make plans for the winery if it gets approved by the city council. Emma, an interior designer, agrees to help. Will starts being nicer to Emma. However, Rose tells Emma that she's not going to support the project, citing the failure of the winery in the past.
Emma goes out for a bike ride, and her bike breaks. Will passes by while on a run, and he fixes her bike. Will invites Emma to go with him to a neighboring winery, and she accepts. The following day, Will and Flynn present their plan at the city council meeting. The two talk about modernizing the city, improving infrastructure, bringing in tourists, and creating employment. Rose interrupts them, saying she doesn't like the changes to the town and doesn't believe Will and Flynn are fully committed. The proposal is rejected. Afterward, Will asks Emma to help him with a revised proposal, and she agrees.
The next day, Emma and Will visit the winery and have fun together. The two then go to see former mayor Felix, who still has a vote on the city council. Initially reluctant to get involved, Felix changes his mind when Emma and Will mention that one of his old projects will be included in the proposal.
Emma visits Will and Tracey, and Tracey playfully teases Emma about the time she's spending with Will. Emma and Will continue to work on the business plan together, making modifications to get the votes of each city council member. One of the councilors mistakenly assumes Emma and Will are a couple. Will dismisses the possibility, which upsets Emma.
At the next council meeting, Will and Flynn present the revised proposal for consideration. They seem to have everyone's support, but then Rose, who is clearly opposed to any changes, calls their integrity into question. The motion fails again. Will storms out, saying the project is dead and that he's moving back to San Francisco.
That night, Emma and Rose argue about the failed proposal. Emma says that Rose is stuck in the past, and Rose apologizes. During the argument, Emma has a panic attack and loses consciousness. Rose tries to call an ambulance on her cell phone but is unable to get a signal. A few hours later, Emma wakes up in the hospital with Will, Tracey, and Rose by her side. Emma tells them about her guilt over the accident and how she's been suffering from panic attacks ever since.
A few days later, Emma and Will run into each other on the street. Emma says she was hurt by what Will said, and Will apologizes and says he was wrong. Will then confesses his love for her, and Emma responds in kind. The two kiss.
The town's citizens gather at the fall festival. Will gets on stage and makes a speech where he tries to gather support for the winery plan that would also improve cell phone reception. Rose gives her support. Afterward, Emma and Will take a walk by themselves. Will gives Emma a charm bracelet, and then they kiss and slow dance together.
