A married woman compromises her social standing and family life when she falls for a young officer.

In Czarist Russia, Anna Karenina falls in love with the dashing military officer Count Vronsky and abandons her husband and child to become Vronsky's mistress. Anna decides to sacrifice her happiness to save Vronsky's family honor by secretly forcing him back to his regiment. One ending shows her sneaking away to her tragic end while he rejoins the cavalry.
