Former Shogunate Decapitator Ogami Itto travels around 18th century Japan, accompanied by his young son Daigoro, on a mission to destroy the clan that murdered his wife and disgraced him.

Ogami Itto was once the Shogunate Decapitator until ninja attacked his home, murdered his wife and planted evidence framing him for treason. Disgraced and ordered to commit ritual suicide along with his infant son Daigoro, Ogami instead fought their way to freedom. Now he roams the countryside with Daigoro as the assassin-for-hire team known as "Lone Wolf and Cub", determined to restore his family name and take revenge on those responsible...the Shadow Yagyu clan, headed by the evil and ambitious Yagyu Retsudo, who will use any foul means and tricks to eliminate the father-and-son pair. But the Ogamis' relentless determination and Itto's Suiou-style swordsmanship, along with a wooden baby-cart filled with surprises, may be more than even the Yagyus can handle.
