Synopsis

This is the television series that was launched due to the immense popularity of the Lone Wolf and Cub (Kozure ôkami) series of 6 motion pictures in Japan. The title role in the movies was played by Tomasiburo Wakiyama, the brother of Zatoichi star Shintaro Katsu. The character, named Itto Ogami, in the television series is played by Kinnosuke Nakamura. This is an exceptionally well done series, following the plot line laid out in the movies. Ogami was the royal executioner for the Shogun until an unscrupulous lord coveting his position frames him for murder. Ogami's wife is killed, and he is disgraced. Unwilling to commit Hara Kiri w/out first obtaining his revenge he takes his young son, Daigoro, and becomes a bounty hunter. The first episode introduces the characters to the viewers.
