Les brules (1957) aka: The Promised Land, originally produced as a television miniseries in both English and French explores the colonization of northern Quebec during the Depression-era 1930s. This historical drama relives the toil, hardship and unexpected rewards of the pioneer. French-Canadian Folk singer Félix Leclerc appears in each episode.
