Employed at the toll booth of a motorway and still living with his mother, thirtysomething Daniel, decides one fine day to go up to Paris with his cousin in Rosny, from where he is getting ready to explore the capital.

Daniel Dubosc is an employee of a motorway toll, timorous, whose life is ruled by his mother. Having received the obsession for the Eiffel Tower from his late father, he takes advantage of a day off to visit the capital. While heading to Rosny to his cousin Jacques, a taxi driver, an illuminated person delays him. He arrives at Jacques' in a climate of tension; his cousin's wife is preparing to take her driving license for the seventh time. The next day, urban transport is on strike. Jacques seems ready to accompany him.
