An historical film based on the struggle of the Montenegrians for their independence.

The self-proclaimed emperor, Stephen the Little, is not only physically similar to the Russian emperor he pretends to be. He sincerely immerses himself in the role of the reformer of Montenegro, advocates the abolition of blood feud and fratricidal struggle and contributes to the victory of the Montenegrins over the Turkish and Venetian armies. His life ends tragically: he is killed by a servant, a Turkish mercenary.
