"Laala" is a story of three protagonists named Lakshmi, Sharmina and Shaji .while Lakshmi, mother of a six year old girl, seeking a groom, meets Shaji from Facebook and goes for a Date. For Shaji, this dating trip is an attempt to win in between the eagerness to find a life partner and the societal teasing in the name of the work he involved in. As far the most "enlightened Kerala society " is concerned, blue collar worker is an "untouchable" when a marriage proposal is considered with them. While Shaji is trying to win over Lakshmi's heart ,she has to keep a wait and watch approach on him as her past insists so.
Shaji belongs to Thiyya community ,whereas Lakshmi belongs to the SC community wherein innumerable stigmas still rampant in every nook and corner of Kerala. Obviously ,many subjects including Caste, slurs , upper cast rhetoric, untouchability to manual labors are becoming a matter of talk between them .
On the other side Sharmina has a big dream to fly around many places without any baggage of societal patriarchal resistance and hence she deliberately creates scenes to provoke the family, who are unlike Sharmina, argue for "men's care a must for women's protection everywhere. They are ready to free her, once her marriage is over, which is unthinkable for her now.
Laala is a story that incorporates these different dimensional characters when a segment of Women are forced to work only inside home. Even the entire film has considered this kind of immovability in it's making
