Synopsis

Five friends, in their early thirties from Montreal, are trying to improve their lives both professionally and in their relationships. Simon is climbing the ladder professionally at the software company where he works. He is faced with many moral dilemmas along the way: How to deal with subordinates that used to be colleagues, how long can he work without alienating his partner Marie; his boss assumes that he is out to get his job; and what it takes to be your own boss. Marie is a legal assistant. While she is a good and dedicated employee, she slowly comes to the conclusion that a career is not enough. She is the person that they all can lean on. Jacques (Marie's brother) is a bar owner. He struggles to keep it afloat. He even is given money from his boyfriend. This puts added pressure on the relationship and Jacques has to deal with his insecurity and jealousy. This is especially true when he finds out that his boyfriend has been seeing an old flame professionally. Vincent is a writer. He starts out as a cashier at a video store. He can not make a decision. Whether it is his choices in who to go out with, at one point there are three in the picture or in his career. A studio does hire him eventually and then he struggles in deciding what he wants to write. Claire is a journalist. Her career is going well for her; however, her love life is a mess. She starts out with a guy that is inappropriate for her. Throughout the series she begins to make better decisions, both in what she wants and how to get it. Throughout all of these plot lines each of these characters are getting through them with the help and support of the others.
