Summaries

The documentary shows how the Mayan people of Sonora and the Totonaca people of Puebla maintain an ancient cosmogonist rite that, beginning with the onset of the colonial period, is linked to the Christian ceremonies of Holy Week. The ritual is considered to be a way of assuring good crops from the beginning of the sowing season. Its base is the organization of steward ships which, besides providing the celebration, guarantee the continuity of the tradition and social cohesion.—Clío TV
