The adventures of Shaolin monk Kwai Chang Caine as he wanders through the American West, armed only with his spiritual training and his skill in Kung Fu.
Shaolin monk Kwai Chang Caine is on the run after he killed the Chinese Emperor's nephew after that coward killed his teacher in cold blood with a gun. He flees to America to escape retaliation, and to search for his half-brother in order to settle down in this new land. However, in his travels in the Wild West, he cannot help but continually run into trouble from desperadoes and other ruffians as they oppress the innocent, while bounty hunters pursue the price on his head. Against this, he has his skill of Kung Fu martial arts, which proves to be devastatingly effective in this gun-dominated land.—Kenneth Chisholm <[email protected]>
Kwai Chang Caine is the son of an American sailor and a Chinese woman, which immediately makes him an outcast. After several attempts as a child, he gains entry into the Shaolin monastery and studies to become a monk. After several years, he has proven his worth and becomes one under the tutelage of the blind head monk Master Po and his assistant Master Kan. Sometime in the 1870s, Caine kills the Emperor's nephew after the youth shot and killed Master Po. Caine then runs away to America not only to escape the Chinese authorities, but to look for the half-brother he never knew. However, as he travels through the American West, he constantly runs into prejudice, outlaws, and other conflicts that he tries to solve peacefully. Unfortunately, he often is forced to use the ancient martial art of Kung Fu that he learned during his studies at the temple.—Brian Washington <[email protected]>
