Dr. Vijay imprisoned for murder after confronting corrupt official. Released, he finds wife Aarti accused of killing daughter, now a prostitute. He seeks justice, truth about family's fate.

While traveling Dr. Vijay Verma witness some men assaulting a laborer; he intervenes and mercilessly beat them up. A few days later he is approached by the village Sarpanch, Dharamraj and threatened not to take matters further but he ignores this. Then one morning the dead body of his assistant is found in his dispensary; the case is then called up in court where by his witness turns hostile, he is sentenced to a long jail term and his wife, Aarti is accused of having illicit relations with his deceased assistant. She is then outcast from the village by angry villagers and handed over to Bombay's police officer, Pandey who attempt to sexually molest her; when she resists her daughter is killed. A few days later she approaches Minister, Channdas for justice but to her shocked she is instead raped by the Minister. She then attempts suicide but is rescued by advocate Bharti Mathur who promises to fight her case in a court of law ensuring that justice prevails. But Bharti herself is unable to do much due to extreme pressure from her politician husband, Chunautilal. After completing his jail term Vijay's attempts to locate his wife are fertile until one day when he happens to see her in the company of Channdas. The film is about a women who faces many injustice in an indian village.Her husband (Jackie Shroff)who stood for good was falsely accused for murder and is jailed.Her daughter is then killed by the corrupt policeman whose help she asks for.She then goes to the minister for justice who in turn rapes her.Fed up by the corruption in society she tries to kill herself but was saved by a lawyer(Hema Malini) who fights for women justice.She(lawyer)is also pressurized by her corrupt husband who joins politics and wants to be a leader in corruption.Her(lawyer) father being a supreme judge is also corrupt to a heavy extent.During the movie 3 other character (an old man-a police constable and a journal author)who is tremendously frustrated by the evil prevalent in the society and also their inability to bring justice.The actress(lead) tries to kill them all by setting up a plan which almost succeeds but was again turned upside down by the court totally by declaring all the culprits as innocents.Fed up totally upon the administration all the positive characters(including the lead actor who then get released from jail heart-brokenly) unite with the public by generating awareness among them and they all together kills them.—kmbaruah

Dr. Vijay Verma lives in a small town with his wife, Aarti, and a young daughter, Munni. One day Vijay comes to the rescue of a poor laborer, who was being beaten by a group of men working for the town's Sarpanch, Dharamraj. This gets him in the bad books of Dharamraj, and he is subsequently arrested for killing his assistant, found guilty, and sentenced for seven years. Dharamraj then summons Aarti and openly accuses her of having an affair with the deceased assistant, and orders her to be taken out of this town, to the custody of Bombay Police. Years later, Vijay is released from prison, and is anxious to meet his wife and child. When he returns home, he finds that his wife and child are nowhere to be found. Upon inquiring, he learns that his wife was jailed for killing their child, and is now earning a living as a prostitute, and is currently the mistress of Member of Parliament, Charandas. When Vijay attempts to meet with her, she refuses to recognize him.
