Western-Armenian provincial town at the beginning of the 20th century. After his parents death, little Torik is left in charge of his aunt Turnanta and her husband Grigor-agha. He grows as a shy and quiet, honest and credulous child. Everything's supposed to be all right until he became an adult. He falls in love and marries Anjel, a girl from a brothel.
