Konopacka crossed it in September 1939 as one of the drivers of the convoy evacuating the reserves of the Bank of Poland, led by her husband, Colonel Ignacy Matuszewski. The action takes place on two time planes: the dramatic evacuation of the Bank of Poland's reserves is complemented by flashbacks, which present the most important events in the life of the main character.—G
