In a small village there are two doctors - one professional and one quack. Dr. Bergman has to see the number of his patients dwindle, as they seem to prefer the traditional medication of the quack doctor, Rasmus Thomsen. Rasmus' son Erik graduates from medical school and returns to the village. While Rasmus and Dr. Bergman become enemies, Erik falls in love with Dr. Bergman's daughter Birgit.—Mattias Thuresson
