Russia during the Civil War. An employee of the orphanage, an intelligent girl Olya, and Red Navy Sasha carry three bags of grain for orphanages. When whites attack the city of Gorodok, Olya and Sasha have to flee. The Chekist Gorbach and the head of the railway station Zaytsev are hiding with them. Zaytsev accidentally becomes the owner of a bag with confiscated gold, but hides it from his comrades.
