An unlikely foursome commit a series of successful robberies in their neighbor but its not enough to lighten their financial burden which leads them to hit the biggest target in Staten Island.
An unassuming group of blue collar employees, Carla Smyth, an active NYPD police officer; Jason Bloom, a postal worker; Jason's girlfriend and postal co-worker Christine; and Shae Blake, a twenty-year NYPD officer retiree, are tired of being broke. Carla is a single mom of three children with three different baby daddies. Unfortunately, she only receives child support for one, which causes her to live paycheck to paycheck and always borrowing money from co-workers. On the lookout for her next big score, she needs to hit a lick and essentially becomes the mastermind behind the string of robberies. Jason is engaged to his girlfriend Christine but he's in love with Carla. He will do whatever it takes to be close to Carla, including putting himself into dangerous situations. Christine is a "ride or die" chick and follows Jason to wherever he wants her to go. Shea was forced into an early retirement for half her pension because of a DUI/Vehicular manslaughter charge. Shea's bills are mounting, so she is all in to get paid.
The four comrades ignore Key's warning not to commit the crimes. Instead they go forward to devise a plan to get the money by any means necessary. Donning masks, they rob small businesses in surrounding neighborhoods in the Staten Island area. Surprisingly, they pull off the robberies with no problem but the money doesn't make a dent in their financial woes.
The gang of thieves are at their wits end. The overconfident group go bigger and plan to hit SKII Bank, the largest financial institution on the East Coast. They think its a piece of cake. What they did not count on was the two undercover detectives Desmond Wright and Mike De Capos who would be on the case. Police Chief Miller also suspects who they might be, but the Illusive bunch always remained one step ahead of the detective squad.
Desmond Wright is a hip, ambitious detective from Queens, New York that's been working in Staten Island Police Department for more than 10 years. He grew up on New York's mean streets and can relate to the corner street drug dealers and thugs in the community. New York's subculture respects Desmond because he was always cool with the homeboys and was a popular rapper back in the day before joining the NYPD.
Desmond's street cred was solid before he joined the police force. As a hot-headed trigger-happy law enforcement officer who loves the ladies, Desmond doesn't mind getting his piece of the pie - legal or illegal.
Mike De Capos is Desmond's partner. He is a seasoned detective who has been on the police force for 22 years. Mike plans to retire soon. He has a zero tolerance type of attitude for crime in his neighborhood. He is hard on criminals but ironically has a big gambling problem. He tries to keep a handle on his financial issues. In the meantime, he suspects a lot of shady business is going down inside the police department.
Demond and Mike like to keep order in their community and under their thumb. They will stop at nothing to figure out who is committing these string of robberies and now a bank heist. Not on their watch!
