In a society where justice is subjective and truth hard to uncover, detective Yugami pursues facts with little regard for rules or social norms. He engages suspects directly and uses unorthodox methods to solve cases. His partner, Torao Hanyu, a serious and rule-abiding detective, contrasts Yugami's approach. Despite their differences, they work together to tackle societal threats.
