Keeper of the Beat is a feature-length autobiographical documentary in which Barbara Borden, and acclaimed 67 year old drummer, composer, teach and peacemaker, tells her story in word and music. Weaving a variety of performance and archival footage with interviews with a range of noted artist and thinkers, students, family and friends who know her and the social history of her times. Keeper of the Beat showcases the unfolding of Barbara's identity as a percussionist, teacher, world musician and practitioner of drumbeat diplomacy.
