Katu Pootha Malay is the story of a house as narrated by the house. The film is about the stories around a house, its people, objects and memories strung like a garland. The film borrows from the oral traditions and culture of Tulu region.

Katu Pootha Malay trans: Wild Flower Garland is a 'Katha mala', a chain of stories of a house and its people as narrated by the house. Finding gold in a dung heap, a patriotic restaurer, hunt for a golden deer, an endearing thief, a longing daughter in law, the laughter of grandchildren, a wooden horse, these are a few accounts of the people of the house, their relationships with each other, objects, memories and fate. Who do the insect pray to? Where is Vishnu? Why do ancestors return as crows and send a neighbour to talk their grandson? What happened to the grandfather's easy chair? The narrator descends to tell the audience these stories. But there are stories as many as flies upon a jackfruit. Will they ever finish?—Udayraj P J
