Kambo, Kambo a visual diary, resonating with the 'search for American Dream' of Hunter S. Thompson, hence the reference to 'gonzo' journalism. It is a factual account of a journey undertaken in search of medicinal frogs and their venom while guided by half-blind bruho who's words and actions stand a world apart. The footage is somewhat shaky and out of focus, showing a kind of authenticity that comes from shooting from the hip while riding in a pekepeke canoe or trying to stand still in the glacier crevice when your fingers are numb from cold and can't turn aperture ring. The project is 100% Kiwi-made and features musical works of Auckland-based Paul Williams, Jon Sanders, Brothyl Beats, Globular (UK), Los Mirlos and Tito La Rosa (Lima, Peru). It has also been entirely unfunded so far, which reflects in its raw, undiluted content.—Platon Malakhov
