In 1821, on the eve of the Revolution against the oppressive Ottoman Empire, one after another, Greece's patriots joined the Society of Friends: the secret organisation whose principal purpose was to establish an independent Greek state and overthrow the Turks. Under those grave circumstances, Labros--the young son of the brave freedom fighter, Stratos Kanakis, and liaison between the revolutionaries and the village lords--finds himself unable to resist the charm of Aishe: the beautiful daughter of Kalavryta's Ibrahim Pasha Arnaoutoglou. Of course, theirs is an impossible union. Is there a future between Labros and Aishe?—Nick Riganas
