Kaanch Ki Gurya is an episodic Pakistani family drama directed by Nadeem Siddiqui and written by Faiza Iftikar. Based on the life of an orphaned girl named Manaal, Kaanch Ki Guriya is the coming of age story of the resilience and strength of one woman in the face of suffering.
'Kaanch Ki Gurya' is a beautiful plot of girls being like glass, so fragile and clear but they feel broken due to the hardships of life just the same way a glass is broken if fallen down - story revolves around a shattered girl who face the deprivations and sufferings of life just because she is an orphan. Manaal's (Yumna Zaidi) mother is shown as a rich woman who decides to marry a poor man but unfortunately the parents die and leave her to the mercy of this cruel world. Manaal's greedy aunt (father's sister) send her to Manaal's grandfather who is an industrialist, Manaal had to fight at every front to win her grandfather's love. Daim (Sami Khan) is the adopted kid and lives with Manaal's grandfather, he starts taking interest in Manaal. Tragedy takes in fold when Grandfather (Qawi Khan) passes away leaving behind Manaal in an awful situation, Manaal has to go back and live with her greedy aunt who decides to get Manaal married to her crooked son to get hold of Manaal's wealth. Will Daim get his love back? Will Manaal get married to her greedy cousin and live a life of misery? Kaanch ki Gurya promises to keep its audience hooked every week.
Kaanch Ki Guriya is a story of a young and beautiful girl, Manaal (Yumna Zaidi) who is the only child of her parents. Though they belong to a poor household with limited resources but their love for each other conquers everything else. However Manaal's world comes crashing down when in a series of unfortunate incidents her parents die. Shattered by the loss, Manaal comes face to face with the harsh realities of life when everyone refuses to take her responsibility. To provide a safe shelter for Manaal, her aunt sends her off to her grandfather who is a rich industrialist of the city. Manaal is surprised to witness the grandeur and lavish lifestyle of his grandfather's family. Impressed by everyone in the house, Manaal tries to befriend and oblige everyone by taking care of them. However, often times she is humiliated and looked down upon as the family is not able to fully accept her. Amidst this, Manaal meets Daim (Sami Khan) who was adopted by the family when he was a child. Manaal and Daim's mutual interests makes them fall in love and their affection for each other grows. However, once again Manaal's life is struck by tragedy when her grandfather passes away and she is forced to move in with her aunt. To acquire Manaal's wealth, her aunt viciously plans to marry Manaal with her son. Manaal continues to suffer under her husband's abusive behaviour while Daim faces difficulty forgetting Manaal.Will destiny bring Manaal and Daim together or will they continue to suffer without each other?
