Towards the end of World War II, when the Germans once again attempt to hold off advancing Soviet troops, five Hungarian soldiers, a sergeant and four privates, are only hoping to survive, like most Hungarian soldiers. Under fortunate circumstances, they obtain a seal which they use to forge an open order. They try to survive the war in small villages.
