All in all, Jim has a good life: He's a successful architect, he and his wife Mary are in love, and they have a healthy, well behaved child. The only thing more Jim could ask for is for his wife to be a little more open about sex; all she ever wants is soft, gentle lovemaking, while Jim would like to be a little more wild once in a while. Mary sees the problem as being on Jim's end; she thinks that they're examples of his personal shortcomings and that his sexual desires are abnormal and selfish. Jim is a married sexually frustrated 33-year-old architect and a father, who's sort of going through a midlife crisis. His wife Mary is of similar age and works as a travel agent. Jim and Mary still love each other, but the sex is just not happening anymore as often as Jim would like. She's not frigid by any means, but she simply doesn't find Jim or herself as attractive as before and doesn't really care about sex as much because of that. Jim is further frustrated by his sexy cutthroat boss Darlene, who sees him as a valuable employee, but too nice to get a promotion in their cutthroat business. While playing one day with his little daughter Casey and her friends in their playhouse, Jim notices his hot neighbor Anna undressing in her apartment in the building across from his. He becomes infatuated by her sex-appeal and uses every chance he can get to spy on her through her bedroom window from his house, both when she's alone and when she's having passionate sex with her boyfriend (Jim calls this situation "threesome by proxy). He's eventually caught by Chuck, the slightly unhinged and a bit thick father of one of Jim's daughter's friends and Jim's next door neighbor, but Chuck believes in keeping his nose out of other people's business, so he doesn't ask Jim to clarify what he's doing. Jim knows that what he's doing is wrong, so he tries to rekindle his relationship with Mary, but things don't go as planned. He even attempts using adult magazine and movies to relieve himself in a more acceptable fashion, but Alicia, Chuck's shrewd wife, sees him when he tries to rent an adult video from a video-store. Jim and Mary end up having a huge fight over this and, out of anger, Mary starts thinking about cheating on him, since her best friend and co-worker Sherrie, a sexually liberated free-spirited woman, loves to brag about her latest sexually charged relationship with rich lothario Craig and insists that women shouldn't be tied to one man, especially if they're in a passionless relationship. Sherrie eventually asks Mary to join her and Craig in his villa one night for a swim in his pool and maybe even something wilder afterwards, if she's up for it. On the other hand, Jim's colleague Dave, a shameless womanizer whose wife left him, offers Jim to join him on a boys night out. Will Jim and Mary give in to temptation or try to save their marriage and their love life despite everything?
