Four years after the destruction of Isla Nublar, Biosyn operatives attempt to track down Maisie Lockwood, while Dr Ellie Sattler investigates a genetically engineered swarm of giant insects.

After surviving the destruction of Isla Nubla, Owen Grady and Claire Dearing took in young Maisie Lockwood. They've been living under the radar to protect Maisie, but she feels like a prisoner. When Maisie goes missing, Owen and Claire set out to find her, and eventually confront Lewis Dodgson, owner of Biosyn. Paleobotanist Ellie Sattler, Paleontologist Alan Grant, and Chaotician Ian Malcolm set out to expose Dodgson's schemes.[email protected]

It's been three long decades since the calamitous events at Jurassic Park (1993), and humankind has yet to find a solution for the prehistoric animals that made their way to civilisation after the devastating eruption of Isla Nublar's long-dormant volcano in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom (2018). As humans and dinosaurs of all shapes and sizes become part of a fragile system, Claire and Owen live in seclusion in the Sierra Nevada mountain range, protecting their adopted 14-year-old daughter, Maisie. However, trouble is brewing. When global biotech giant Biosyn Genetics becomes involved in the mysterious disappearance of a human clone, Dr Ellie Sattler embarks on a mission to uncover the truth and expose the unexpected new adversary that threatens the entire food chain. Now, there is no turning back. Who is behind the impending environmental disaster? Is the world mature enough to embrace change and coexistence?—Nick Riganas

Synopsis

Four years after the Lockwood Estate incident and the cataclysmic volcanic eruption on Isla Nublar, De-extinct dinosaurs freely roam the earth, causing ecological disasters and deadly animal attacks. Amid global efforts to control the invasive species, Biosyn Genetics established a dinosaur preserve in Italy's Dolomite Mountains where they conduct Genomics research, ostensibly seeking groundbreaking pharmacological and agronomic applications. Biosyn has been granted exclusivity over dinosaur research and as a result its profits have soared recently.

Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) (The former Jurassic World park manager and founder of the Dinosaur Protection Group), Zia Rodriguez (Daniella Pineda) (A Paleo-veterinarian and dinosaur rights activist), and Franklin Webb (Justice Smith) (A former Jurassic World technician and dinosaur rights activist) are still with the Dinosaur Protection Group and investigate illegal dinosaur breeding sites and Claire's partner, Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) (An ethologist, US Navy veteran, and former Jurassic World employee who was responsible for training Velociraptors), works as a wrangler, helping to relocate stray dinosaurs. At their remote cabin in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, Claire and Owen secretly raise 14-year-old Maisie Lockwood (Isabella Sermon) (A clone of Benjamin Lockwood's daughter that he raised as his granddaughter and is under the care of Owen and Claire), Benjamin Lockwood's bio-genetic granddaughter, while protecting her from genetic research corporations, who would study her DNA for various nefarious schemes. When Owen's trained Velociraptor, Blue, unexpectedly arrives with an asexually-reproduced Hatchling, Maisie names it Beta. Having grown increasingly frustrated living in seclusion, Maisie sneaks away from Claire and Owen, unaware that Biosyn operatives have located her. They abduct her and capture Beta.

Elsewhere, formerly extinct giant locusts have inexplicably reappeared in massive swarms, wiping out crops. Paleobotanist Dr. Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) (A Paleobotanist and one of the consultants who traveled to John Hammond's original Jurassic Park) observes that corporate-grown crops using Biosyn seeds are left uneaten, raising suspicions they created the locusts. Believing the locust may date to the Cretaceous period, Ellie approaches former partner and paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant (Sam Neill) (A paleontologist who was consulted for Jurassic Park and is a survivor of the Isla Sorna expedition depicted in Jurassic Park III) for help. she wants Alan to come with her and infiltrate the Biosyn facility to get a DNA sample and prove her theory.

Claire and Owen panic, and Claire calls Franklin for help. Franklin, now with the CIA's dinosaur unit, tells Claire and Owen that Maisie and Beta were likely taken to Malta. They arrive and infiltrate a dinosaur black market (where the kidnapper is supposed to be hanging out). When authorities launch a raid to arrest the kidnapper Rainn Delacourt (Scott Haze), he counterattacks by releasing predator dinosaurs, causing havoc. Delacourt is killed by the dinosaurs, after he reveals that he was working for a woman named Soyona Santos (Dichen Lachman). The group tracks down Soyona, but she unleashes trained dinosaurs on them, which leads to a chase through the city.

Barry Sembène (Omar Sy) (A former animal trainer who worked with Owen at Jurassic World and is now a French Intelligence agent), Owen's former Jurassic World colleague who is working undercover in Malta, informs Claire and Owen that Maisie and Beta are being transported to Biosyn's secluded Italian research facility. Kayla Watts (DeWanda Wise), a sympathetic cargo pilot, flies Claire and Owen there (Kayla knew the location as she had been paid by Lewis to fly Maisie into Malta. she had also helped Claire and Owen escape the dinosaurs).

Chaos theorist Dr. Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) (A mathematician in chaos theory and former consultant for Jurassic Park as well as a key figure involved in the San Diego incident depicted in The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)), now working for Biosyn, has sought Ellie's help to expose CEO Dr. Lewis Dodgson's (Campbell Scott) illegal activities after being tipped off by communications director Ramsay Cole (Mamoudou Athie). It is revealed that company geneticist, Dr. Henry Wu (BD Wong) (The lead geneticist behind the dinosaur cloning programs at Jurassic Park and Jurassic World. He knew Maisie's late mother, who was one of his colleagues), genetically engineered the locusts to avoid Biosyn crops as a means to control the world's food supply. Wu now denounces this plan (he wants to eradicate all the locusts already released in the wild), citing it will cause global famine as the locusts spread unchecked. Lewis is adamant and insists that he wants to push ahead with the plan.Wu meets Maisie and explains that Dr. Charlotte Lockwood, Benjamin Lockwood's deceased daughter and Wu's former colleague, used her own DNA to asexually conceive and give birth to the genetically-identical Maisie. She altered Maisie's DNA to prevent her inheriting a fatal disease she had. Wu believes that the asexual conceptions of Maisie and Beta, along with their DNA, are key to creating a pathogen that can halt the locust outbreak. Wu thinks that if he can figure out how Charlotte changed Maisie's DNA after she was born, he could use the same technique to introduce a new DNA sequence into the locust swarms, thereby eradicating them.

Maisie escapes from captivity, along with Beta.A Quetzalcoatlus attacks Kayla's plane in Biosyn's airspace, causing Owen and Kayla to crash land while Claire ejects. Following separate encounters with a Therizinosaurus and a Pyroraptor, the three regroup. Inside Biosyn, Ellie and Alan access a restricted lab and steal a locust sample. They encounter Maisie, who leaves with them on the hyper-loop network to a nearby airport field. Discovering the breach, Dodgson incinerates the locusts to destroy evidence, but many escape, sparking a forest fire and forcing a site-wide evacuation.

Lewis discovers that Maisie has escaped with Alan and Ellie. He shuts down the hyper-loop, forcing the trio to entire the natural caves through which the hyper-loop was built. The caves were filled with dinosaurs and Lewis knew this. Ian and Ramsay find out what Lewis has done and launch a rescue. Alan, Ellie, and Maisie barely escape and rejoin with Ian, Owen, Claire, and Kayla. Dodgson flees with dinosaur embryos via a hyper-loop, but he becomes trapped in a tunnel and is subsequently killed by three Dilophosaurus. Electronic implants summon the dinosaurs to protect them from the fire, while Owen locates and tranquilizes Beta. A Giganotosaurus threatens the group but is fatally attacked by a Therizinosaurus and the first park's veteran Tyrannosaurus Rex. The group escapes with Wu in a Biosyn helicopter. Ellie and Alan rekindle their relationship before testifying alongside Ian and Ramsay against Biosyn. Owen, Claire, and Maisie return home and reunite Beta with Blue. Wu manufactures and releases a pathogen to eradicate the locusts. Around the world, dinosaurs adapt to a new co-existence with modern creatures while the United Nations declares Biosyn Valley a dinosaur sanctuary.
