Dipankar Nair (Thalaivasal Vijay) runs an Elephant sanctuary near a village called Chandrika but things have turned bad as hunters are frequently killing Elephants for their tusks. The poachers use drones to keep track of elephant herds in the sanctuary and to track their movements. His son Raj (Vidyut Jammwal) is a Vet in Mumbai. Raj does not pick Dipankar's phone calls, but this time Dipankar leaves him a message to return home for his mother's 10th death anniversary.
Meera (Asha Bhat) is an animal activist in Mumbai and had been begging Raj to introduce her to Dipankar. Meera had seen that Raj loves animals and is willing to stand up for their rights. She wants to come with Raj to meet his father, Dipankar and to chronicle his work as an elephant conservationist.Raj also displays his ability to connect with animals and to understand what is going on with them. On the way to his village, the road is blocked by a herd of elephants. Raj talks to them and finds that they are mourning the loss of their colleague and friend. Raj prays to the elephants and sends them on their way, clearing the path.Raj arrives at the sanctuary, with Meera, for the sake of his mother's memory and befriends his childhood animals Bhola and Didi.
Shankara (Pooja Sawant) works with Dipankar for conservation of animals and has a crush on Raj. Raj has an issue with Dipankar hating anything outside of the jungle and hates him for not taking his mother to a hospital in Mumbai when she got sick 10 years ago. Shankara tries to explain that his mother had cancer and Dipankar did everything that he could.
Dev (Akshay Oberoi) is the forest ranger of the area and is Raj's childhood friend. Raj believed that Dev and Shankara were supposed to get married, but Shankara skirts the question.
Keshav (Atul Kulkarni), a hunter (who works for a smuggler Mr Vane (Lars Kjeldsen)), has an eye on huge tusks of Bhola which could fetch good money. Vane lives outside of India and keeps in touch with Keshav over satellite phone. Vane has a buyer for Bhola's tusks who is willing to pay $2 million but wants the tusks immediately. Before Keshav attacks the sanctuary, someone uses a monkey to steal Dipankar's mobile phone.Keshav kills Bhola for his tusks. Didi gets agitated as she senses danger to Bhola and goes after him. Dipankar follows Didi. Raj goes after Dipankar and fights the poachers, who strike Raj with cattle prods and render him unconscious.Dipankar is also killed by Keshav who tries to save Didi, who was pregnant with Bhola's seed and Dipankar didn't want her to get killed by the poachers. Before Keshav can kill Raj, the rangers arrive forcing the poachers to retreat. The cops arrive at funeral of Dipankar (which is attended by all the surviving Tuskers of the sanctuary) and falsely implicate him of being in cahoots with hunters. When Raj attacks the police officer, he is arrested despite protests from Dev. In custody the police torture Raj to sign a confession stating that he and Dipankar were involved in poaching and in cahoots with the poachers. They say that they have Dipankar's mobile phone which has detailed call records of his conversation with the poachers.Raj is able to escape police custody with the help of Shankara and Didi.
Raj now knows that the police is collaborating with the poachers, but the rangers were not, and they didn't find any tusks on the cars going out of the forest. That means the tusks are still inside the jungle. With help from Shankara, Raj finds the tusks at an isolated spot inside the jungle. This was the spot where Dev and Raj used to be trained by Dev's father Gajja Guru on Indian style of martial arts.Dev reaches the location and reveals that he was working with the poachers all along since he needed money to take care of the Tribals living in the forest. Dev argues that a single bout of rain can sometime wipe out the entire crop and hence money is needed to support Tribals in the area. Unknown the Raj and Dev, Meera was hiding nearby and recording the entire encounter on tape.Keshav arrives and forces Raj to surrender as he has Shankara captive. Keshav shoots at Raj and hits his shoulder. Dev tries to save Raj but is killed by Keshav. Meera blows a fake police siren to force Keshav and the poachers to run away. Keshav takes Shankara away with him along with the tusks.
Meera and a jungle Baba Gajja Guru (Makarand Deshpande) save Raj's life and pull the bullet out with a knife. Meera tells Raj that the deal between Keshav and Mr Vane is going to happen in a warehouse in Paradip.Raj attacks. Meera also reaches the location and makes a live video of the deal between Mr Vane and his Chinese buyer and uploads it live to the internet. Raj defeats Keshav and Keshav is about to shoot Raj, when Didi intervenes and tramples Keshav.Mr Vane and his Chinese buyer are arrested by the police. Raj decides to stay back and work on the elephant conservation movement started by his father.
