During World War II, the German high command sends agents into an African jungle to stir up the local Tongghili tribes against the British.

Universal Pictures 63rd sound-era serial (between "Mystery of the River Boat" and "The Master Key") finds that German agents are trying to arouse the tribes in a jungle in Africa to revolt against the British. Americans Bob Elliott (Edward Norris) and Chuck Kelly (Eddie Quillan) arrive to help the British agents. Lothel (Ruth Roman), the mysterious queen of the jungle, appears and disappears always in the nick of time to save them, and also Pam Courtney (Lois Collier), niece of the explorer Alan Courtney ('Boyd Irwin' (q)). Dr. Elise Bork (Tala Birell) and her henchman Lang (Douglass Dumbrille) are the German chiefs, posing as scientists. Lang has great influence on some of the tribesman, especially with Chief Maata (Napoleon Simpson') who wants to keep Kyba (Clarence Muse) from becoming judge over all the tribes. A secret sword is the key to the ruler of the jungles, and the holder of this secret is sought by both the British and the Germans. Courtney is the only white man who knows the secret but is killed before he can reveal it to his niece Pamela. The forces of good finally prevail in Chapter 13, "The Secret of the Sword!", through the help of Lothel, who disappears in the same sheet of flame that has always marked her coming and going.—Les Adams <[email protected]>

During World War II, the German High Command sends agents into the African jungle to stir up the local Tongghili tribes against the British Allies. This allows them to plant Commander Elise Bork, posing as a scientist, and her subordinate, Lang, within the Tambosa Experimental Farm. Along with the help of Maati, an evil rival tribesman, they search for the legendary "Secret Sword", which has mysterious powers. Two Americans, Bob Elliott (Edward Norris) and Chuck Kelly (Eddie Quillan) arrive to aid the Allies and meet Pamela Courtney (Lois Collier), who is looking for her father, an explorer who mysteriously disappeared. Bork and Lang feign friendship with the trio in order to find out what they know, before trying several ways to kill them. Their attempts always fail though, due to the well-timed appearances of Lothel (Ruth Roman), the beautiful and mysterious queen of the jungle, Tongghili's spiritual leader. In desperation, the Germans try to kill Lothel by letting loose wild animals, and setting fire to the jungle. Lothel, however, walks through the flames unharmed and seems to tame even the wildest beast. In the end, she helps our heroes end the German terror and return peace to the jungle, before vanishing into a sheet of flame.
