The movie illustrates the historical episode about the arrival of Maximilian from Habsburg to Mexico, sent by Napoleon III in the 1860s. Maximilian become the second emperor of Mexico, supported by the Mexican conservative power, and settles with his wife Carlota in Mexico City. But the republican president, Benito Juarez, defeated Maximilian and executed him and his collaborators in Queretaro.—Alejandro Frias
